C’est un Reve is a multi-faceted interactive installation with ephemeral elements. Participants are invited to slow down and look, to explore intriguing elements and make their own connections. Stirring inner thoughts and transformation, it asks us to remove and transform vices in the water and make wishes for growth and change. Dissolving the vices reveals the Wise Ones, it honors the Light Bringers in our society. Their wisdom and experience transform our world, making living worthwhile. They teach, guide, protect, support and encourage us on our paths.

Step into this dream world and play. Viewers may bring their own baggage and take time to unpack, meaning will swirl forth. From a rhizomatic approach, C’est un Reve has multiple entry points and functions as an “image of thought”, including thought forms of dreams. The mortar is dust, the bricks have crumbled, the windows are left floating in a world unformed. The soaring forms of Gothic arches are freed from the Catholic church’s dogma with a broader spiritual interpretation. Fish flow out of ivy, ivy transforms to stars.
A perennial evergreen, English ivy represents tenacity and devotion. Ivy is a repeating motif in the work, signifying the interconnectedness of all things. Fish swimming in the air can represent free movement and release of emotions or ideas previously hidden – an insight. Fish represent dealing with deep emotions.
Humans ascribe form to the stars in the sky, drawing constellations, making connections. The zodiac with 12 equal divisions, the signs, correspond to each month of the year. Every human being can be interpreted as a unique combination of each sign. Each sign represents one of twelve possible points of view. To be understood, concepts can be examined from twelve points of view. The ages of humanity are divided into twelve astrological ages, which cycle in retrograde through the zodiac. Epochs of humanity last 2,160 years. “Astrological ages affect humanity, possibly by influencing the rise and fall of …cultural tendencies.” Humanity is emerging from the age of Pisces where religion was the “opiate of the masses”. The wave theory states that the next age’s influence will gradually assert its influence, like the “tide surging forward incrementally.”
In this overwhelming, over stimulating, fast paced transitional time, technology can obscure humanity. Revealing a consideration of the whole of humanity is Anthroposophy. Anthroposophy is a human oriented spiritual philosophy, an impulse to nurture the life of the spirit and soul in the individual and in human society, among other things to nurture the respect for and interest in others on a purely human basis, independently of their origin and views.
To play a part, participants can take an image of a vice off the wall. As the vices dissolve in water, the self transforms. When the vices are removed, they reveal the Wise Ones.
I honor the Wise Ones. They watch over, guide, protect and give strength. Their teachings, words, gestures and deeds are beacons. There are so many wonderful, wise, experienced people on this planet who fill it with day radiant light, never ending light.
